I am pretty sure that after today, I will not be naming my posts “New Camera” or “First …”. I took a bunch of ‘just getting used to this thing’ type pics this weekend. The only ones I thought were even worth showing were the ones I took on Saturday evening. We built a fire in the back yard and had a bunch of friends over for drinks. I found a crappy old flash unit I bought back in college that I spent $15 for and strapped it to a light stand with an umbrella. I made a 25ft flash synch cable out of lamp cord and female connectors I bought from Home Depot and voila– instant studio lighting. Now I know some of my old profs are going to cringe at these images because they are so moody, and not correctly exposed. Hey I know. I did not have a free hand for a bounce card! I do like how un-natural these images look. Its like studio lighting outdoors. They will get better. I am just amazed at the quality of the image from this thing. Go easy on me please. There are the obligatory doggie pics, and some bread I made. I am really loving making bread.
